Book Review

Hey, happy March!

It blew in like a lion up at my cousin's house but I understand more like a sweaty lamb down here.

Probably I should be sued for the image. But I have nothing!

Okay, I really liked this book. I don't know why authors that begin with the ending and then write filling in all the details really appeal to me. The story is that a woman from China is hired to take care of a little girl adopted by American parents from the same country. It was great to escape into the trials and tribulations of her life back in China and in the large scale of New York.

The ambiguous real ending also kept me thinking. In fact I'm not entirely sure I believe the logical conclusion, that the girl is returned to her mother. But, and I'm sorry for that, the premise is that the nanny loves the little girl so intensely that she takes her, is not fulfilled by the line of the story.

All the feelings I as the reader sensed in the nanny add up to more interest in the mother, perhaps another minor character. I did not feel love for the little girl in the nanny's experience.

Anyway it was still well written and worth the time.
